Terms of Service

Effective date: April 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of Myelin ("the Service"), a personal knowledge management application operated by Myelin ("we", "us", "our"). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these terms.

1. Your Account

You must be at least 13 years old to use Myelin.
You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
You are responsible for all activity under your account.
One person or entity per account. Sharing account credentials is not permitted.
Notify us immediately at admin@somanoetic.com if you suspect unauthorized access.

2. Your Content

You own your data. Notes, tasks, projects, files, and any other content you create in Myelin belong to you. We do not claim any ownership or intellectual property rights over your content.

By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, process, sync, and display your content solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you. This license ends when you delete your content or your account.

You can export all your data at any time in Markdown format from the Settings page.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
Attempt to gain unauthorized access to other users' data or our infrastructure
Interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
Upload malicious files or code
Use automated tools to scrape or overload the Service
Resell or redistribute the Service without permission

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

4. Third-Party Integrations

Myelin offers optional integrations with Google services (Gmail, Calendar, Drive). When you connect these:

You authorize Myelin to access the specific data required for each integration
Your use of Google services is also subject to Google's Terms of Service
You can disconnect any integration at any time from Settings
Disconnecting revokes our access and deletes stored tokens

5. Privacy

Our use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these terms by reference.

6. Service Availability

We strive to keep Myelin available and reliable, but we do not guarantee 100% uptime.
We may perform maintenance that temporarily affects availability. We will try to provide advance notice for planned maintenance.
The Service is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis.

7. Data and Backups

We perform automated daily backups of our database.
However, you are responsible for maintaining your own backups of critical content. We provide export tools to help with this.
We are not liable for data loss due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control.

8. Intellectual Property

The Myelin application, its design, code, logo, and documentation are our intellectual property. These terms do not grant you any rights to our trademarks, branding, or source code beyond the right to use the Service as intended.

9. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied.
We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service.
Our total liability for any claims related to the Service shall not exceed the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

10. Account Termination

By you: You may delete your account at any time. We will delete your data within 30 days of account deletion.
By us: We may suspend or terminate your account for violation of these terms, with notice when possible. We will provide an opportunity to export your data before permanent deletion unless the violation involves illegal activity or harm to others.

11. Changes to These Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email or an in-app notice at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

12. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, United States, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes will be resolved in the courts of Massachusetts.
